Canon EOS 1000D - Express, Shoot and Share

Canon is well known for both high end, and entry-level DSLR 's. All Canon Digital Cameras come with a large system of lenses and accessories. After the best selling entry-level 300 D and 400D the fifth generation of Canon's "Digital Rebel" family offers Canon EOS 1000D. With its compact design EOS 100D is lighter, less expensive and offering a good lens.

Like many other EOS models EOS 1000D is designed for ultimate image quality.

This is 10.1 megapixel CMOS digital camera featuring an image-stabilized EF-S 18-55mm-IS lens.

The EF-S 18-55mm-IS lens comes with Optical Image Stabilizer (that is what the IS stands for) that eliminates camera shakes and guarantees sharper pictures. You can purchase additional lenses from Canon since it is compatible with all Canon EF and EF-S EX-series.

Among many amazing features, Canon EOS 1000D is also equipped with 7 point AF system (with f/5.6 cross-type centre point) that sets aperture and the whole scene in focus giving your images the absolute perfection. For instance with this camera you are capable to lock onto a subject in a fraction of a second. You may shoot up to 3 frames per second. Photographers can also enable additional noise reduction for shots captured at high ISO speeds.

HANDLING: Build quality is attractive and it is easy to handle because of its lightweight body and compact design.
MENU system is well implemented and not so crowded providing easy access. Controls are nicely laid out. However, the dial need some time to get use to. For example, after selecting an option you need to remember to set it to "activate state".

COLOR: This camera also provides amazing color accuracy. Canon's automatic white balance performs an excellent job at providing well lit and vivid color images. EOS 1000D even enables you to correct colors as you shoot. For Instance Auto Lighting Optimizer corrects brightness and contrast also improves skin tones by ensuring correct exposure for faces.

EXPOSURE: Compare to spot meter option using the Partial metering mode is easier to get good results.

METERING MODES Evaluative 35-zone, Partial Metering (9% at center) and Center-weighted average modes are available.

NOISE: Canon provides minimal noise and performs great performance in its class.

Some other features of the EOS 1000D include:

• LCD screen is smaller ( 2.5" ) but it is practical and doesn't switch off automatically. It is equipped with Live View shooting: Quick AF and Live AF. Quick AF -acting fast by flipping the mirror to enlarge the sensor. Live AF-using contrast information for focusing.
• EOS 1000D is also supplied with DIGIC III image processor.
• EOS 1000D is compatible both with SD and SDHC memory cards so you will have a choice for your image files.
• Complete with all essential functions, Canon EOS 1000D delivers great pictures while keeping gimmicks to minimum. For instance EOS Integrated Cleaning System will reduce, removes, and repels dust.
• Canon EOS 1000D is supplied with Digital Photo Professional RAW processing software that provides all the necessary tools for processing and managing pictures.

One problem with this camera is: When in three frames per second mode the motor-drive will run continuously until the battery runs out. However for those photographers who want to capture every action at all times this could be an advantage.

These are just some of the many features of the Canon EOS 1000D.
